Haiti 2021 - Ministry in the Middle of Turmoil

Haiti 2021 returning to Missions

2019 quenched foreign missions for CC Perris Valley. Our fellowship returned to Baja, Mexico as soon as the boarder was open but beyond that we were waiting. I was uncertain how many would join me on a Haiti mission trip. Pastor Brian McDaniels of Cross to Light had been active in his trips back to his base in Port-au-Prince as soon as airports were open in 2019. So in early 2020 a trip was planned.

I have traveled and ministered in poor countries but none so stricken as Haiti. This is not to say there are not others in worse condition. In many countries I teach persecution is active against the Church and congregations meet under a cloud of potential raids by authorities leading to potential imprisonment. In Haiti the enemy is oppressive religion, economic depravity, fuel shortages, governmental corruption, and gang violence that inflicts hardship on Christian and non-Christian alike.

Haiti has been in the news a lot lately. President assassination, earthquake, Haitians on US southern boarder being deported, and the kidnapping of 17 missionaries. It is no wonder people were dismayed that a team from CC Perris Valley were scheduled to go to this seemingly forsaken country. But remarkably a group from my congregation felt called by God to join me.

They are a team of mature servants. The creme de la creme of Perris Valley. All love the Lord Jesus, all have been discipled, all serve within our fellowship and all were unshaken in their resolve to GO no matter the conditions, no matter the opposition by family and friends. They are the Lord's magnificent 7.

Our example is simple. Jesus left the glory of heaven with its absence of pain, sorrow, sickness, corruption and violence, to an earth filled with it. Only he was righteous in an unrighteous world. So as Christ came...we go to be a light. There is the argument, "There are plenty who need Jesus in the USA, so why go to Haiti." This is not only a narrow world view as a Christian but a narrow view of the word of God that disregards the example of the book of Acts.

So we didn't come to Haiti, we were sent to Haiti. Our food is to do the will of the Father. He has called us out of the boat to join him. The result is a remarkable joy, compassion, and even heartbreak in ministry to those we come in contact in Haiti. This is not the last trip nor the only country we will travel to. We will continue to fulfill the great commission until the Lord returns.

Blessings
