New Pastor in Town

Over the past three years I have been supporting a church in Meeteetse, Wyoming through teaching, advice and encouragement. MCC is a small church with a long history in a small town south of historic Cody, Wyoming, named after famous Wild Bill Cody. The surrounding area is ranch land with some of the best hunting.

Some years before my arrival this small congregation was without a pastor. Circumstances that made the position vacant were not favorable. In a small town such history can pain a congregation and a community but God has His healing work.

It is not a simple task to find a pastor, even churches in Cody have struggled to find one. Two of the church elders, whom I have known for many years, were covering the teaching on Sunday. So having no pulpit to fill every Sunday I offered to come and teach on a monthly basis. Last year a brother with Gideon Bible Ministries began to visit and teach when I wasn’t there and he brought a retired pastor to guest teach, so with the three of us there was regular teachers every Sunday. In the mean time prayer that God would provide a man to lead were continually lifted up.

Josh wasn’t intending to pastor, though having attended Bible College and being a youth pastor for a time in California. He was content to seek new employment after a loss of job in Arizona. Josh was a close friend to the family of one elder and visited often during hunting season. So he was familiar with the church and the area. Though Josh was maybe looking at Wyoming as a temporary stop God had a plan that seamlessly resulted in his becoming pastor. I’d like to say I had something to do about it but I didn’t. This has only God’s fingerprints on it.

On Sunday November 23rd I had the privilege to join the elders in ordaining Josh McCluskey as pastor of Meeteetse Community Church. Since then the Lord has given him a vision for ministering to the congregation and for reaching the community. There is an obvious excitement and optimism in pastor Josh and his new congregation. I ask that you would join me in praying for pastor Josh and MCC. May God show his grace, wisdom and favor upon them. If you are ever on Vacation in Wyoming make a Sunday stop to hear his teaching. I definitely see God’s anointing on him.

For me, pastor Josh knows he can call me anytime. But this chapter in my ministry has closed to free me for more attention out of country in 2026.

Blessings

Pastor Bob
